We’re seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Bodyshop Manager / Workshop Controller to support the smooth and efficient running of a busy, high-performing bodyshop.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual to step into a key leadership role and contribute to the daily operations and overall success of the workshop.

About the Role

As Assistant Bodyshop Manager, your primary responsibility will be overseeing day-to-day operations of the workshop. Acting as Workshop Controller, you'll ensure repair work is allocated efficiently, progress is closely monitored, and all jobs are completed to the highest quality standards.

You’ll support the Bodyshop Manager in leading the team, optimising workflows, and driving productivity — while ensuring that performance targets are met without compromising repair quality or customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of a 12-technician workshop, ensuring efficient planning, job allocation, and progress tracking
  • Support the Bodyshop Manager in overseeing all departments including Panel, Paint, MET, and SMART repairs
  • Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer-approved standards and insurance requirements
  • Drive workshop productivity and efficiency through effective workload management
  • Conduct thorough quality control checks on completed work
  • Assist with accurate estimating using approved platforms, such as Audatex
  • Provide strong leadership and mentoring, fostering a professional and positive team environment
  • Support with parts procurement, stock control, and supplier coordination

What We’re Looking For

  • We’re looking for a confident, organised, and proactive individual with experience in a leadership role within a busy accident repair environment.
  • Essential Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience as a Workshop Controller or in a similar Bodyshop management position
  • Strong technical knowledge of accident repair processes
  • Proficiency with Audatex and Bodyshop management systems
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Calm and solution-focused under pressure
  • Understanding of insurance procedures and customer service standards
  • Experience in a premium or manufacturer-approved bodyshop environment
  • ATA/VDA certification
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

What We Offer

  • We offer a comprehensive benefits package to support your wellbeing and work-life balance, including:
  • 24 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), rising to 29 days with length of service
  • An additional day off for your birthday
  • Holiday Buy & Sell Scheme for greater flexibility
  • Cycle to Work programme
  • Staff Vehicle Scheme — including cars, motorbikes, and EV options
  • Life Assurance & Pension Scheme
  • Health Cash Plan to help cover everyday medical costs
  • Enhanced Parental Leave
  • High Street Discount Vouchers
  • Long Service Awards
  • Job Shadowing opportunities across different departments

If you're ready to take the next step in your career and thrive in a fast-paced, high-quality repair environment — we’d love to hear from you.
